Following are the role of new Historical Researches in rising of Indian Nationalism

In 1837, Ashokan inscription was successfully deciphered by James Prinsep. The reading of these inscription revealed that political Unity at a much larger scale was there in India living during mauryan Age. They shattered the myth that the British were first to create one India.

During 1840s, Nationalist School of Indian history emerged. The Nationalist historian interpreted India’s past in positive light. They highlighted the Glorious elements of India’s past which shattered the myth like “White Man’s Burden” and the “providential mission of Britain” in India.

These new historical researches has instilled a sense of Pride among Indians and gradually this Pride got transformed into the spirit of nationalism
