Under the Right to Recall (RTR) system, voters in a constituency enjoy the rights to recall their elected representatives on the grounds of non-performance. It exists in some states of India like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhatisgarh and etc. at the local government level.
Condition to fulfill this Right to Recall are as follows:
- Elected representatives can recall only after the completion of 50% of his term.
- At least one-fourth of the voters in the constituency must give in writing to the State Election Commission (SEC) expressing their desire to recall their representatives on the ground of non-performance. And then a referendum is made.
- If more than 50% of the votes in the polling go in the favour of recall then the candidate will lose the membership of the Legislative body. followed by MP in Chhattisgarh at the local government level.
